Welcome to Clearwater Counseling and Wellness! I am Leah Clearwater, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Colorado. I hold a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, I am also a Certified EMDR Therapist, Certified CAMS Therapist, Certified Clinical Trama Professional, Certified Grief Educator and EMDRIA Approved Consultant. Prior to starting my private practice in 2021, I worked in Community Mental Health in rural and mountain settings. For the past 8 years, I have been dedicated to helping clients overcome various challenges related to trauma, grief, depression, anxiety, codependency, caregiver stress and burnout. In addition to my work in mental health, I have been a legal Guardian and Conservator for a family member for over 25 years and have extensive experience in caregiving and navigating the medical, financial and legal requirements of Conservatorships and Guardianships, as well as the impact of caregiver stress.
Currently I see clients from all over Colorado via telehealth with the use of a HIPAA Compliant Zoom platform and with therapists seeking EMDR support across the country.
Outside of my work and passion as a therapist, I enjoy reading, landscape photography, camping, music, concerts, and being in nature as much as possible.

For Clients:
Adults I work with often find they are experts in taking care of everyone around them but feel uncertain how to take care of themselves. They may be "people pleasers" and know, in great detail, what others may need and how to fix things, but struggle to know what they themselves need, how they feel or how to address their own problems. They may have had traumatic or adverse experiences that impact the way they react and cope in many situations. This often leads to feelings of anger, resentment, exhaustion and neglect of their own needs, with an increase in anxiety, depression, stress, burnout or grief taking over.
If this sounds familiar to you and you are finding yourself more depleted, unsupported and realizing its time for a change, but you're not sure where to begin, I can help support you in learning how to build healthy boundaries, implement effective coping skills, heal wounds from trauma and improve your relationships with those in your life, while finding the balance of your own personal well-being. I enjoy working with clients who are ready to do the work—people who want real change and are willing to take meaningful steps toward it.

Therapy offers the opportunity for some much-needed focus on you; a place to be heard, understood and supported. Therapy also offers a place where we have to exercise our emotional muscles, similar to working out at a gym, therapy is not always easy or fun, it does require work and commitment. In the end if we truly invest in that time, we begin to see results, find our strength, and experience real transformation and change. If you're ready to take action, commit to change, and engage in the hard work required to improve your life, I'm the right therapist for you!

For Therapists:
I offer focused consultation for EMDR-trained therapists pursuing Certification, providing a supportive, structured space to refine skills and meet consultation requirements with confidence. My approach blends fidelity to the EMDR model with practical guidance, case conceptualization, and skill-building you can immediately apply to your clinical work. Consultation is collaborative, growth-oriented, and designed to help you bridge the gap between training and a confident, competent EMDR practice.

I look forward to meeting you!
